Correct me if I'm wrong but my understanding is that it depends on which teams do better in the Heineken Cup...so if a french team gets furthest in the Heineken Cup it will be 7 french teams. But because an english team got further than any french team there will be 7 english teams next year

Now settled that it is Bourgoin rather than Montauban

England: 6
France: 6
Wales: 3
Ireland: 3
Scotland: 2
Italy: 2
Total of 22 places.

23rd place to whoever does best out of England, France and Italy. So England this year.
24th place to a playoff between 3rd Italian team and best not-already--qualified Welsh / Scottish / Irish team. This year, Dragons beat Calvisano.
